From out of the Southern California desert, Chris Simental (alias SIM_01) has been DJing and crafting music for over 15 years. His humble beginnings were with a small Casio keyboard that he received as a gift at the age of 10 and promptly tore apart and rewired to create unique sounds. Always a fan of the beat, SIM_01 was attracted to Hip-Hop acts such as Afrika Bambaataa, Soul Sonic Force, and Hashim. Inspired by the music, he began DJing when he was 13 years old, playing Hip-Hop and Electro.

While in a "New Wave" band in college, SIM_01 began producing his own original music. About this time he began exploring the underground Electronic and Techno scene in Los Angeles and was influenced by the early sounds of Paul Oakenfold, Christopher Lawrence, and The Crystal Method. Early in 2001, SIM_01 released his first album, Radiophonic Oddity and founded the Los Angeles-based record label and online vinyl store, Cyclotron Records.

SIM_01 is currently busy DJing, working on his next release, and working on a few club remixes. Look for a new album from SIM_01 in early 2004.
